Improving Student Achievement
Meeting Key Performance Measures
Formative assessment is used to guide student instruction and learning, diagnose skill or knowledge gaps, measure progress, evaluate instruction, and report NCLB-related data. In daily use, teachers apply formative assessment to determine what concepts require more teaching and what teaching techniques require modification. Over time, educators use results to evaluate instruction strategies, curriculum and teachers, and make adjustments for better student performance.
